On June 1st, CaribbeanStartups.com opened up applications for the Caribbean’s first digital accelerator . 105 applications were submitted and the top ten were selected for demo day. Since 2011, Scotiabank has been supporting small and medium business owners (SMEs) and bank clients through a specialized programme known as Action Coach. In 2015, Scotiabank took it a step further and expanded the offering through the Scotiabank Vision Achiever programme to include non-bank customers who own registered businesses. AquaFlow Products & Services was selected as one of those businesses. So for 17 weeks the company was guided through the competencies required for running a profitable business. This included sales, systemizing the business process, marketing and understanding business financials.

Made Of More Entrepreneurship Winner - AquaFlow / Pump-N-Spray

mom2This competition, dubbed the Made of More challenge, featured 14 budding entrepreneurs of the Branson Centre of Entrepreneurship (BCoE) competing for a share of US$130,000 in collateral-free, low interest financing, available through a collaboration of the BCoE and Arthur Guinness Project. The competition started in early August (2015) with a first round of assessment. Entrepreneurs were given the opportunity to submit their application for loan amounts up to a maximum of US$40,000 in increments of US$5,000. Of the available funding, US$10,000 was earmarked for the Sir Arthur Social Entrepreneurship Grant, so special consideration was given to entrepreneurs who could demonstrate the social impact of their businesses. AquaFlow were 4th place finishers carrying home a loan of USD$15,000 to accelerate the growth of the company. AquaFlow sells the Pump-N-Spray, an innovative device that allows users to carry out water dependent tasks in the absence of running water like taking a shower and washing hands.

AquaFlow Shines at JBDC Proposal Writing Workshop

Official Branson Centre Entrepreneur - Jovan Evans

The Branson Centre of the Caribbean (BCoE) provides entrepreneurs with critical support services to help them structure and scale their businesses by offering a comprehensive mix of on demand services that they can access at different times along their entrepreneurial journey. Candidates participate in a training programme and are accessed based on how they represent their business in a finance-seeking pitch deck and video pitch. Once successful, a Official Branson Centre Entrepreneur emerges like Jovan Evans, owner of AquaFlow Products & Services, who comes from the Seventh cohort of BCoE.
